… to say you’re mad, rather than admitting you’re hurt.
No Particular Day Resolution
Ok, here we go again. Time to start my blog up again. But this time, I’m actually going to post on a regular basis. Yeah, right.

Earth Day 2011
Oh! Today is Earth Day! I didn’t realize. I need to do something to celebrate. First, I think I’ll change the oil in my truck and dump the old oil on the ground. Then I’ll probably burn some old tires. And I really need to cut down those old growth trees that are blocking the entrance to my meth lab. Yep, it’s going to be a busy day!
Making Progress
I apologized to C today. We got into a little verbal exchange awhile back and hadn’t talked to each other since. Of course, it was as much her fault as mine, but I did the right thing and took the blame.

When I apologized to her, she said something like, “What do you mean? When did we get in an argument?” Yeah, right. We yelled at each other and then quit talking to each other. I was gracious enough to admit I was wrong and apologize. You should be gracious enough to accept my apology, or not. But don’t deny anything happened. What is this, some kind of neo-etiquette? I hate when people do that.

Finish Every Day
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities
no doubt have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with
your old nonsense.
This day is all that is
good and fair.
It is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on yesterdays.

Post Birthday Post
It sucked. I’ve been in a foul mood all week, and my birthday didn’t make it any better. I don’t know why I’ve been like this. OK, I do know why. What I don’t know is why I’m letting it affect me like this.
Ok, I’ll feel sorry for myself this weekend, then it’s over. Starting Monday, the past is past. I can’t change it, so I’ll move on.
Happy Birthday
Tomorrow is my birthday. That means it’s time for my annual Birthday Resolutions. Besides the usual better health and wealth resolutions, I have a few specific ones.

I’m going to get down to a 30″ waist. I’d like washboard abs, but that’s probably a bit much. I’m going to run a 10k in Jamestown next month, a half marathon in Columbia in November, and a marathon in Myrtle Beach next February.
And, in a departure from the norm, I’m going to find everyone I’ve ever hurt with my temper and unrealistic expectations, and apologize and beg for forgiveness.
That might take awhile.

Acceptance
I suppose I need to accept the fact that sometimes things don’t work out, and sometimes I can’t make things better, and sometimes when things go wrong they stay wrong. I need to get past this and move on with my life.
My father had a terrible temper, and my mother was very emotional. I inherited both traits. I get worked up over everything, even the little things. I need to stop being bothered by this little thing, and go on to the next little thing. And not let the next one bother me.
6 miles, 376 yards 4.8 inches Part II
This is a photographic record of the Cooper River Bridge Run 2011. This is Part II. Day one, picking up my race packet, was in Part I. If you haven’t read Part I yet, click here.
Driving towards Charleston on Johnnie Dodds in Mt. P. roughly 5:00am on raceday. Continue reading
6 miles, 376 yards 4.8 inches Part I
Or, in layman’s terms, 10 kilometers. That’s how far the Cooper River Bridge Run is. I ran it last Saturday, as I have in the past. But this year was slightly different. I was planning on trying to run it in less than 50 minutes this year, but a combination of a lot of overtime at work and a strained hamstring about two months ago prevented me from training properly. But I had registered for it last November, and I didn’t want to waste a perfectly good registration. So I decided that instead of trying to run it as fast as I can, and possibly reinjuring myself and getting a lousy time anyway, I’d take it easy, take a camera along, and take pictures. So, for those of you that didn’t make it this year, here’s the 2011 Cooper River Bridge Run.
Friday afternoon, the day before the race. I’m going to pick up my packet. I have to drive across the bridge we’ll be running across to get to the pickup location. I’m on Johnnie Dodds Blvd in Mt. Pleasant headed to downtown Charleston. You can see the bridge towers in the distance.
